Why Sanctuary’s Free Kindergarten Program is Essential for your Child’s School Readiness

Sanctuary Early Learning • April 29, 2025

As parents, we all want the best start for our children, and choosing the right kindergarten program is one of the most important decisions you’ll make as they prepare to start school in 2026. At Sanctuary Early Learning Adventure, we proudly offer the Free Kindergarten Program across our Exceeding-rated centres. These programs are designed to give children the tools they need for success in school and beyond, offering far more than just play-based learning.

What makes our Kindergarten program stand out?

Our kindergarten program at Sanctuary Early Learning Adventure focuses on school readiness, fostering both academic and social-emotional development. With two of our centres Exceeding in key areas such as governance and leadership, staffing arrangements, and the physical environment, we are committed to ensuring that same quality in programming and environment is provided at all of our Sanctuary centres.

In addition to this, our teachers are not only Bachelor Qualified, they participate in ongoing professional learning and mentoring within Sanctuary and with an external Early Childhood Pedagogy specialist; always searching for new ideas, opportunities and styles of learning for our Sanctuary children.

The benefits of kindergarten in a long day care setting

Unlike traditional C&K programs, which often operate on a part-time schedule, our long day care setting allows for a more flexible and consistent routine. Here’s why this benefits your child:

  • Full-day, Ongoing Support: Long day care offers a more structured, yet flexible environment that mimics the school day. This allows children to adjust to a longer day, building endurance and independence that will help them transition to school life.
  • Social and Emotional Development: Spending more time in a familiar, supportive environment helps children develop social skills, emotional regulation, and resilience. These are key elements for a smooth transition to primary school.
  • School Readiness Program: Our program focuses on academic skills, but also includes essential life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience. These experiences are designed to make children feel confident and prepared for school.
  • Excursions into the community: Why should our children only experience excursions when they get to primary school? We provide learning experiences outside of the centre, and by participating community events.

Why Kindergarten Before school is a must

Research has shown that children who attend a quality kindergarten program are better prepared for school, both academically and emotionally. The Government Approved Free Kindergarten Program at Sanctuary Early Learning Adventure is specifically tailored to give children the best start. Your child will engage in:

  • Early Literacy and Numeracy Skills: Building the foundation for reading, writing, and basic mathematics that will be needed in school.
  • Social Skills: Learning how to interact with peers and teachers, work as part of a team, and manage conflict in a healthy way.
  • Independence and Self-Confidence: Children gain the skills they need to think critically, make decisions, and navigate their school environment confidently.
