What Our Families Say

Highfields Early Learning center, a brick building with sign, white fence, and blue sky.

A trusted child care centre in Highfields

Highfields Child Care Centre is one of the more trusted child care centres in Highfields, offering long day care and outside school hours care grounded in strong relationships, experienced educators, and thoughtfully evolved learning environments.

For many local families, Highfields isn’t just where their child attends care — it’s a place built on trust, familiarity, and a shared journey across generations. Our approach is guided by values of connection, collaboration, inclusion, and respect, shaping how we care for children, partner with families, and design learning experiences each day.

Experience, stability, and relationships that matter

Families searching for child care in Highfields often tell us they’re looking for consistency, experience, and a place where their child is truly known — and this is where Highfields stands apart.

More than half of our educating team have been part of the Highfields community for five years or more, creating exceptional continuity for children and families. Long-standing relationships allow educators to deeply understand each child’s personality, strengths, and learning style, supporting secure attachments and confident transitions.

This level of educator stability is rare in early learning and is reflected in our consistently high occupancy — built on trust, reputation, and strong community relationships.

Learning environments shaped by reflection

Our indoor and outdoor learning environments at Highfields have been shaped over many years through careful reflection, collaboration, and a deep understanding of children’s needs.

Outdoor spaces feature natural and repurposed materials that encourage exploration, creativity, and considered risk-taking, supporting confidence, resilience, and physical development. Outdoor eating areas across all rooms reflect our belief that mealtimes are meaningful opportunities for connection, independence, and wellbeing.

Indoors, spaces are intentionally designed to feel calm, welcoming, and home-like. Small, defined learning areas, warm lighting, natural textures, and thoughtfully curated provocations support emotional regulation, sustained engagement, and deeper learning across the long day care experience.

Growing with our community — book a visit

Highfields Child Care Centre continues to evolve alongside the children, families, and educators who call it home. Reflection, collaboration, and continuous improvement remain central to our approach, ensuring our environments and practices respond to the needs, rights, and potential of every child.

Life Skills

Our early childhood centre implements a range of programs to help children develop early life skills. We teach our students cooking, sustainability, arrange for them to meet influential people such as police, and take them out and about in the community.

Our Philosophy

At Highfields Childcare Centre, our philosophy comes from our impassioned belief that education in the early years creates the foundation for learning in the future of young minds.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why is early childhood education important?

Early childhood education is important because it builds the foundation for learning and development. It not only provides children with valuable skills but also stimulates their mind and helps them discover new things, including their own creativity. This all becomes the basis of what will enable them to learn as they grow older — in school and life —because we know that early experiences have a lasting impact.

  • How will sending my child to a childcare centre benefit them?

Your child will benefit from active and engaging learning experiences that include a wide variety of play, including dramatic play, arts and crafts, music and dance, wellness, sports, nutrition, role-playing as well as problem solving activities. There is a big focus on literacy and numeracy too, with many learning centres putting an emphasis on language development through songs, rhymes and games.

  • What will my child learn at a childcare centre?

A child learns so much at an early education centre! Skills can be grouped into four main areas: development and learning, social and emotional, physical and cognitive. A child develops physically through active experiences of moving their body, exploring their environment and engaging with different materials. They develop emotionally through positive relationships with adults and children as well as self-confidence. Social and emotional skills include understanding rules, taking turns, accepting differences and dealing with emotions. And most importantly the early years lay the foundation for learning. A child learns through imitation, play, repetition and interactions with a caring adult. They learn about relationships with others as well as concepts such as size, shape, colour and texture among many others!

Our early leaning educators understand the importance of open communication with parents and caregivers. We provide regular updates about your child’s day, their progress and any upcoming events to ensure you are always involved in your child’s progress and learning journey. Through this partnership, we ensure that each child’s needs are met and their interests pursued.
