Curriculum

Our programs are child focused and initiated; inspired by children’s curiosity and imagination, they’re designed to nurture the development and growth of each child.

Our Educational Programs and Curriculum

At Sanctuary Early Learning Adventure, our programming is based on observing children on a regular basis, evaluating their needs and interests and planning future activities from these observations.

Our curriculum is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG), and My Time Our Place (MTOP). We use a holistic approach to incorporate all areas of learning and development. This has a specific emphasis on play-based learning and recognises the importance of communication, language, numeracy, social and emotional development. It is our belief that all children bring their perspectives, expectations, knowledge and skills to their learning experience.

Our curriculum and programs are delivered throughout each of our centres: Ashmore, Redlynch, Buderim, Southport and Maudsland.

A Deeper Passion for Education

Our experienced teaching team share our deep passion for Early Childhood Education. They plan and provide a detailed developmental pathway for all children in our care. Our curriculum, educational programs, goals and philosophy are evaluated on a regular basis and all educators are trained and personally consulted with any new developments we implement.

Each fortnightly program is displayed in the room for you to view as well as on our online platform. Children thrive when families and educators work together to support young children’s learning. Opportunities will be made available to parents throughout the year to learn more about our educational programs and also our additional programs that support children’s creative interests.

Methods for Documented Learning

Educators document children’s learning through a variety of methods including:

Families are encouraged to discuss and contribute to children’s learning as partners in the early education process. Families can contribute through sharing information about their child and events happening in their world, evaluating programs and experiences, viewing and contributing to children’s individual portfolios and by participating at the service.

Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines

While the EYLF focuses on children up to five years, the government introduced the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG) to support teachers’ professional practice in a range of contexts across Queensland specifically. The aim is to enrich children during their Kindergarten year.

The QKLG supports kindergarten teachers’ professional practice in a range of contexts across Queensland. It adopts the vision of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) that ‘all children experience learning that is engaging and builds success for life’.

The QKLG provides specificity for children’s learning across the year before starting school, recognising that children bring with them diverse identities and backgrounds. It acknowledges that parents/carers are children’s first teachers and values the vital role families play in children’s lives and their ongoing learning. The term ‘families’ is used throughout the guideline to recognise the range of people who take on parenting roles.

The QKLG provides a framework aligned to the EYLF and is designed to support teachers to plan and implement quality teaching and learning. Resources that support quality teaching and learning in a kindergarten program can be accessed on the QCAA website.

STEAM Learning

The five principles that make up STEAM learning – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics pave the way for children to become active and engaged learners. Through the learning of these practical skills, children will be equipped to manage real-life challenges using thoughtful processes, curious minds and empowered souls.
